No single agency or organisation can prevent domestic and family violence on its own.
A strong NSW response brings together:
Community organisations providing specialist support in the community.
Government Family Violence Services providing local coordination, support and pathways into government services.
The DV Helpline providing statewide information, safety support and referrals.
And the public services victim-survivors may need, including Police, Health, Housing, Child Protection, Schools, Courts, Corrective Services and Community Corrections.
Above this system should sit strong, independent oversight, accountability and transparency.
The objective isn’t to create another layer between victim-survivors and support.
It is to make the existing parts work together.
